Divergent History: The formation of the S.A.R from Britain’s hastily evacuated territories in South and Central Africa left a small percentage of human colonists in control over a large population of Kiedran Tigers (and whatever Basitin slaves the British managed to import from South America before the rise of Napoleon). This inevitably led to the rise of military strongman Arigos Smit and his Order of the Templar party during the first South Arigan elections, as the colonists hoped that extending Kiedran and Basitin apartheid might allow them to live as comfortably as they had under British Imperial rule.
Besides renaming the nation in an egotistical bid for immortality and laying the foundation for the apartheid that still grips the nation, Smit’s rule also set the tone for decades to come in the S.A.R: cruel, despotic leadership, supported by the favoritism he showed his human supporters and enforced by his private police force, the Templar. Unfortunately, most other nations are either too busy with their own affairs to intervene, or would prefer the S.A.R on their side to gain a foothold in the region (as is the case with both the Cooperative and the Qing Empire), and as such serious economic or military threats from the outside world are unlikely.
Despite the apathy of the governments, the S.A.R’s practices have earned the scorn of many, resulting in annual demonstrations against apartheid in major cities around the world, especially in the American mainland. This, at least, has forced the application of minor economic sanctions, which in turn have produced some change. The Basitin have been granted some citizenship rights, and have even been allowed to build up their own police force, but most experts believe this is just a token admission, not too unlike a happy meal toy thrown to a group of kids to make them stop bickering. It is believed that true social progress is years, if not decades, away. In the meantime, the Kiedran and the Basitin remaining in what territory the S.A.R has left continue to suffer beneath the yoke of the last overtly-racist regime in the Modernkinds world.

At this point I think you should scrap all current modern borders on the map, set your maps to different layers and produce a map with your borders for your fan fic. It would make more sense that way.
